Barangaroo spawns a very Sydney argument

For decades Harry Seidler was vilified because he dared to design a residential tower on Blues Point. Elizabeth Farrelly attempts to justify something far more outrageous than anything Seidler might ever have contemplated (''Keating: the new bandmaster leading our mini Manhattan'', February 25). Is this the best architectural criticism the Herald can mount?

Let's wait and watch: after listening to public opinion, Lend Lease will concede and deftly delete its outrageous 213-metre hotel tower from Darling Harbour and move it to the northern edge of what Farrelly so graciously terms our very own mini-Manhattan, thereby achieving what it intended in the beginning. A pyrrhic victory for the critics and a tremendous win for Lend Lease.
