Comment on: Stench of secrecy and arrogance rises from Barangaroo site like a thick fog that is a pretty good summation!Comment written by "Student"
let me see - have I got this right? . The Labor party held a design competition for Barangaroo: the winners of the competition were sacked: the publicly owned land was handed over to Lend Lease who donated money to the Labor party: The Labor party created an 'authority' to help Lend Lease get what they want: the authority gave a seat on their board to the lord mayor: the lord mayor signed confidentiality documents so she couldnt tell her fellow councillors what was going on: Lend Lease and the authority thumbed their collective noses at due process, they did deals behind closed doors: plans were drawn up for a huge overdevelopment, tall buldings creating wind canyons 2jand massive shadows. the lord mayors two most experienced councillors took the deputy lord mayor position and used it to get the lord mayor to leave the authority's board: the Labor party made their premier the minister for Barangaroo: it was proven that the site is very badly polluted and clean up would be time consuming and expensive: the Labor minister for planning changed the law so that Lend Lease will not have to clean up the contamination: the minister for planning says he did this without talking to the premier and minister for Barangaroo. what next? This coming election will be my first, where is the Liberal party in all of this? I know where the Greens stand. Seems like an easy choice!
