One of the most ugly and venal

The present Barangaroo proposal is a reflection of one of the most ugly and venal periods in Sydney's history. Civilised standards of governance have receded under a rising tide of nepotism, cronyism and avarice.

The alternative concept is an attractive, appropriately scaled proposal that restores the overseas shipping terminal to its rightful place. Its authors are to be congratulated. Whether an incoming O'Farrell government is capable of supporting the public interest against the greed of private interest remains to be seen.
