Uninspiring, unimaginative and not worthy of a global city

As a high-rise construction worker I have looked around in disappointment as the abominable precast and glass buildings come out of the ground from Circular Quay to Chinatown. Uninspiring, unimaginative and not worthy of a global city. I can only wonder what would happen if we had visionaries such as Frank Gehry and the UTS vice-chancellor, Ross Milbourne, steering the urban renewal project at Barangaroo (''Gehry competes with ghosts for architectural vision'', December 17).

What is unfolding in the skylines of Sydney is a reflection of how stagnant, complacent and stale this city has become. We will get only one chance to get a project of this size right. The way it is shaping up it will be on the pile with Darling Harbour and Centrepoint tower.

Gehry has an important ingredient that has been missing in this city and our state politicians for a long time. That's passion.
